I hope you are enjoying the end of a wonderful summer season. Here at Feel Better Farm Equine and Farm Animal Rescue, the year is flying by. This summer alone, we moved three rescue horses up to Virginia when their facility in Mississippi changed ownership, adopted out two horses (Missy and Cache) to wonderful new homes, and completed rehoming efforts for the 130 birds we took in last November from a seizure in Greene County, VA. We also hosted our friends from Playful Learners Preschool – the kids had a wonderful time feeding the chickens, pigs, rabbits, and goats, and Lovey Girl enjoyed a day of cuddles and attention!
Along with this good news comes the unfortunate reality that so many costs have increased over the past year. With the higher cost of gas and animal feed, along with the unexpected financial commitment of moving Cassidy, Ladybug, and Remi from Mississippi – and an inhaler/breathing treatments for Lady as she deals with Virginia allergies, we have had to put a temporary hold on bringing in any more animals while we ensure that we can properly care for the ones that we have. This is also the time of year where we need to ensure that we purchase enough hay to get the animals comfortably through the winter: for our current residents, that means approximately 100 round bales and 300 square bales, which respectively cost $65 and $8 each.
That being said, we are reaching out to see if you might consider a donation to help us with our feed and veterinary care bills – and, if you might be willing to share this note with others who may be interested in our cause? Donations via PayPal, Facebook, and Venmo (@FeelBetterFarm) are welcome; if sending a check, please let us know that one is on the way – our address is 8902 Langhorne Rd, Esmont, VA 22937.
We plan to continue helping animals for years to come, and donations like yours are vital to our cause. Thank you, as always, for your consideration.
