Emergency Piggies!

We had an emergency intake today, and it was a testament to how community works.

On the weekend a family was cycling along a trail in town. On a nostalgic whim they stopped by the old stockyards expecting it to be empty.

It was not.

Alone in the dark they found 4 pigs. No food. No water. Not even a dry place to lie.

But they didn’t ignore these helpless creatures. They reached out to a local small animal rescue who reached out to us.

Through our amazing, gutsy and determined rescue connection we were able to bring these sweet babes to the farm today.

3 boars, one older sow.

2 of them have serious skin infections.

They all have lice.

The sow is at least 75lb under weight.

The boys need a good 30lbs.

They all have bite and scratch injuries.

They are scared, they are tired, they are hungry.

But they are safe.

They will need refeeding and immediate vetting.

I posted a video of them as they were found, and I’ll leave a link to it here. Its quite hard to watch, do please use discretion when you decide whether or not to watch.

If you are in a position to help we would be so grateful. These are supposed to be big hogs and they will need a significant amount of food to get to weight in addition to vetting and likely spay/neuter too.
