Maya

Sweet Maya was dumped at auction with a severe rotation in her right foreleg.  Treated at birth this would have been a relatively easy fix, but now, as an almost-yearling, the treatment, and prognosis, is much more involved.

Maya will require surgical intervention to sever her Deep Digital Flexor Tendon in hopes that it will release enough to allow de-rotation and for her to be pasture sound and comfortable.  There are no guarantees, but if there is a chance, we will give it to her.
Maya will go to the VA Tech Marion Dupont Equine Clinic on Monday, May 24th for evaluation, followed by surgery the next day.  The estimate, depending on her prognosis, ranges from $800 if we cannot help her (in which case the only humane option is to let her go) to $4000 if the surgery is successful.  There will be a great deal of aftercare and we will work in concert with podiatry to give her the best chance possible.
If you can contribute to her treatment we are very grateful. Whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.
